Nationals at Joe's!

What up animals? This past weekend was the National Bouldering competition at Joe Rockheads in Toronto. The competition was far-out crazy fun with sweet problems, wicked climbers and radical spectators. I have to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in putting on this comp. That goes for everyone at Joe's, volunteers, competitors and Luigi and his crew. I had a blast talking to many different people and found myself getting more than a bit jealous that I wasn't climbing... haha...

Tour de Bloc is a lot of fun and I can't wait until next year.

Thanks to all and climb hard

We're in Gripped!!

What up peeps?

Go pick up a copy of this months Gripped Magazine (04/05 2010). You'll have the chance to see IMBOULDERER's first mass exposure in a magazine. Gripped was generous enough to write a little blurb about the BoyPad t-shirt. You can check it out on page 63. Big thanks to everyone at Gripped. Well, go pick it up! Hell, get a subscription!

Tour de Blog at Coyote

Hey all!

This past weekend was the 100th Tour de Bloc competition at the Coyote Rock Gym in Ottawa. As always, the problems looked super sick and climbers were crazy strong. I gotta start off by thanking everyone for a fantastic comp. These amazing humans include Luigi, Jody, all the Coyote staff, volunteers, competitors and spectators. I have a strong feeling that this comp has set the new standard for competitions.

I wish I could upload some pics from Saturday but I forgot my camera at home that day. haha.. one of the disadvantages of being a one person company I guess. Maybe if I think hard enough I can project my mental images from the comp to you.... is it working?? no? Ok, guess I'll just won't forget my camera next time.

Results from the comp can be found here: Tour de Bloc results

Again, I had a great time, met all kinds of awesome people and can't wait for the next comp!
See you then.

IMBOULDERER Chalk Bags

ooooooooo... snap! IMBOULDERER is proud to introduce it's first chalk bag. I can't think of a better place to keep all your chalk. It's got the wicked awesome style that has become a staple for all the IMBOULDERER products. Doesn't your chalk deserve a stylish place to call home? It does so much for you. Hand stitched with care by Spoken Bags so it comes with the durable quality that will ensure it lasts through all your treacherous climbing excursions.

This chalk bag comes equipped with a loop for your brush and a pocket for your goodies. With a full Velcro opening, your chalk will have a harder time escaping when you don't want it to. For you technical minded individuals, this bag is approximately 21cm (8.5”) in width, 15cm (6”) in diameter and 21cm (8.5”) deep, allowing you to carry enough chalk to send that project that's been talking garbage about you.

Enjoy and climb hard.

Tour de Bloc at Boulderz

Spent this weekend in Toronto at the Tour de Bloc hosted by Boulderz Climbing Centre. Another great comp with strong competitors and an energetic crowd. I always enjoy watching a comp for about 10 minutes... then the craving sets in... I just want to climb. Next time I'll bring my shoes and try to sneak in a couple attempts.

The only negative thing to report from this trip is that the hotel I was staying at had their pool and hot tub shut down. No drinks in the hot tub Saturday night.. boo..

Anyway, I want to thank everyone who was involved in the comp. Competitors for throwing down, spectators for the support and all the volunteers for stepping up and putting on a great comp. See you next time!

Tour de Bloc in Quebec City

This past weekend IMBOULDERER made the trip out to Quebec City for the 2nd round of the Tour de Bloc. After dealing with some terrible Chinese food, and some messed up directions, Delire climbing gym was found. Seriously, the street has the craziest numbering system I've ever seen. It goes from 0 to about 1500 then jumps to 4000 and the numbers 1500 to 4000 are before the 0... ?!?!... Took a couple tries to find the gym.

Anyway, the comp was great. The problems looked great, but they did try a system that instead of tape they just used the same colour holds for the problem. I think this may have caused some issues for climbers once an abundance of chalk was applied. This was my first time at this gym and I gotta say that I really like their walkout ramp to look over the whole gym. It's a great view to watch climbers throw down! Unfortunately I wasn't climbing, so I don't have any first hand opinions on the problems.

Congrats to all the winners! Big-ups to everyone at Delire! Can't wait for the Regional comp in April (Delire is hosting it).
